Shirin Neshat: I Will Greet The Sun Again

New York–based Iranian artist Shirin Neshat’s photographs and videos address individual freedoms under attack from or repressed by social ideologies. Throughout most of her career, she has been exiled from Iran, an outside observer of the increasing rigors of Islamic law’s effect on the country’s women and daily life. This catalogue from The Broad’s landmark exhibition featuring Neshat (October 19, 2019–February 16, 2020) traces Neshat’s personal journey and presents her iconic early videos and photographs—including haunting films such as Rapture (1999) and Tooba (2002)—along with Land of Dreams (2019), making its global debut.
